Core Muscles Strength Training

 

Establishing sufficient core strength is essential in generating explosive speed or power in movement. Strengthening your core muscles is important to ensure they are able to support the spine and lower back as well. There is a misconception that core muscles only consist of the abdominal muscles, but this is not the case since there are a variety of muscles that run from torso and develop the pelvis and spine. These muscles offer support to the spine from which powerful motions can be transferred to the limbs. The following are the main core muscle groups.

 

Erector Spinae – It contains three muscle groups that run along the lower back and the neck which work in rotating and straightening the back.

 

Multifidus –These muscles run along under the erector muscles along the vertebral muscles. These muscles mainly help to rotate and erect the spine and lower back as well.

 

Rectus Abdominis – These muscles are also known as eight packs or six packs.

 

Internal and External Obliques – These muscles are located at the front and side of the abdomen while internal obliques are situated just below the opposite direction.

Transverse Abdominis – The abdominal muscles wrap around the torso from the ribs toward the pelvis, it also offers protection for the lower back and spine as well.

 

Hip Flexors – These are muscle groups that unite the buttocks and the legs.

 

Gluteus Minimus, Medius and Maximus - The upper hamstring and buttocks are part of these muscles.

Hip Adductors – These muscles are located at the inner thigh or the medial.

 

There are quite a number of benefits that come with strengthening the core muscles. A strong and well-developed core provides balance and stability to the body; this allows the creation of powerful movement throughout the entire body. The power is distributed towards the limbs by the core. A solid core is going to assist to use the correct posture as you carry out your regular activities which then minimizes the risks of acquiring injury and also reduces strain to the spine.
